To Judy: I love the topic, and I think you have dealt with it wonderfully. It is so great to see that fifth graders will have an opportunity to explore jazz and hopefully come to appreciate it as young people. Great project!!

My feedback is... too many students see math as a subject lacking excitement. Your unit has them working with real world situations, which will surely increase interest. Wouldn't it be cool to have a real fireman visit as a speaker to discuss the ways he or she uses math in their daily job. Your students are blessed to have such a hard working teacher! :)

My feedback is... love the role-playing and the teamwork that you've created! I know the kids will have so much fun doing this project. The rubric is awesome! The students will surely read that one. Application is so important to learning. You've really hit the mark. Awesome work!!

Role playing and the use of simulation is a powerful tool for student learning. Way to go! I wish I had math teachers when I was younger who took the time to apply what we were learning instead of just making us study all of the stuff to death. That being said, the elements of your unit plan are of amazingly high quality and your organizational strategy for the scope and sequence of your unit plan is awesome. Impressive work.

I love it! The free check system solves a problem that really frustrates me in class. I really like the pictures and colors in your Excel doc as well as you Powerpoint. All of the pics are thematic and make the project much more interesting.

My feedback is...Phenomenal plan! Very helpful links in the unit plan! Your rubric is very clear and I would enjoy grading with the "title slide", "accurate research", and "easy to read slides" standards. The check system is another idea I will enjoy implementing!

My feedback is...I really like the idea of role-playing to learn math skills. What an interesting idea! The real-world application is very cool because the kids love to know how our subjects relate to the world outside of school. I like the two free checks to foster self-sufficiency. The links in the unit plan look useful. That seems like a good way to keep organized.Giving the students a checklist so that they can determine whether or not they have the rubric requirements is a good idea. Neat use of PowerPoint. I also like the problem-solving strategies rubric. That is really neat.
